Mahjong is played in many regions around Asia and has countless variants. There are different English orthography/romanizations since the words are from different languages. In this guide, Japanese orthography will be used for the Japanese Mahjong variant Riichi.

Rules in this guide is made for Riichi, but most of the rules apply to other variants as well.
